The SGA Sustainable Games Standard is launching V1.0 next week ๐คฏ

As I'm sure you can understand, I'm a little short on time right now! In lieu of a proper piece, here's a short summary of all the events we have lined up for next few weeks across two hemispheres and 5 countries. Get excited!
This sucker is ready to launch, after a year plus of work, dozens of conversations with game developers, weeks of review and refinement with STRATEGIES research project, and as much hands-on time testing the standard as we could fit in... it's about to go live and kick off a new era for the games industry. Gone will be the days of individual developers toiling away on their own, scratching their heads at how to approach this or that part of their climate footprint. Gone will be the confusion over what should or shouldn't be counted. Gone will be the uncertainty about whether or not we can actually control any of this โ with a ton of brand new activity based methods we're unlocking really meaningful interventions in games to bend the industry's stubbornly increasing emissions curve downwards. GET HYPE!
You can meet us Dr. Ben Abraham, Maria Wagner, Jiri Kupiainen next in Helsinki (Leadership Day of IGDA Finland, Pocket Gamer Connects, W Love Games), Melbourne (Games for Change), Berlin (Games Ground Berlin), Paris (Paris Games Week) and Barcelona (Unite 2025) where we'll present and discuss practical solutions for:
๐ Improvements that cut costs and environmental impact
๐ Optimize energy consumption and extend battery life
๐ Reduce hardware load and optimize performance
๐ Enhance the player experience
๐ Providing developers with better data, faster
We will be on stage discussing these topics with amazing industry professionals and experts such as:
Tommi Lappalainen from Rovio Entertainment, Jari-Pekka Kaleva from European Games Developer Federation (EGDF), Gabriela Leopard ๐ PGC Helsinki from Second Stage, Atte Harjanne Member of the Finnish Parliament, Lukas Galinski from INSTINCT3, Sofie Fransson from Modern Times Group MTG AB, Mathilde Yagoubi-Thery and Geoffrey Marmonier from JYROS, ๐บ๐ฆ Ruslana Kruchek, Hendrik Lesser from remote control productions, Valtteri Lahti from Psyon Games, Stephen Lee from DECA Games and Laurent Gibert ๐ฎ from Unity and many more.
With all of our gratitude to our members, backers and supporters worldwide. Thank you!
As always, huge thanks to the hardworking conference organizers and project managers who provide us with these amazing spaces to meet, share our solutions, and stand up for our values.
